I was inspired by this post by MckMama and decided to come up with my own list.
Nothing says "welcome to our home" like a bag of garbage and some loose (rolled up) used diapers on the walkway and a couple broken panes of glass in our back door
Nothing says "I'm a homeschooler" like reading the super thick resource catalog and having your husband ask you why you're reading the phone book AND dog-earring many pages in said resource catalog for items you want to purchase for fourth grade and high school even though you only have a second grader and kindergartner
Nothing says "I need some alone time" like hiding in your bathroom with the door locked and the lights out while praying it will take at least 2 minutes for your children to realize you've left the room
Nothing says " We have four young children" like sweeping up enough food particles off the floor to whip up your next meal
Nothing says "I've learned to relax some after having four kids" like seeing crumbs on the floor and not bothering to get the broom because you are thinking and slightly rejoicing to yourself that "it's all right because Ben will eat it"
From Ben's perspective, nothing says "I've been here" like the crayon box lying on the floor with the crayons scattered about
From Luke's perspective, nothing says, "I love you" like getting everyone's toothbrushes ready with toothpaste
From Reese's perspective, nothing says, "I wish it was summer" like wearing shorts and tshirts as often as he can...even though mom is wearing at least three layers and two pairs of socks to keep warm inside our house
From Brie's perspective, nothing says, "I need a sister" like pretending her AG doll, Kirsten, is her sister
From Dave's perspective, nothing says, "It's my birthday" like lemon blueberry cake
Nothing says, "I've learned what it means to have boys" like sewing some knights tunics and having your (VERY skilled and talented) husband put together some swords as part of their St. Nicholas Day presents
Nothing says, "I've run out of ideas for this post" like ending it right here :)
