Brie had her dance showcase on Saturday - at the same place where she saw Beauty and the Beast at Christmas! Thankfully, it was low key (e.g. no costumes, make up, theatrics, etc.). I helped out with Brie's class beforehand so only got to see her number and the group before her, but it was so worth it. In true Brie fashion, she resisted wanted to go out there, but ended up having a great time and wants to do it again (this trait she comes by honestly as I was the same way...can you hear the apples falling?).
That three minute performance of "Peanut Butter and Jelly" beat anything I've ever seen on stage. It's hard to describe the emotions and feelings of seeing your oldest child doing something she's practiced and learned over several months.
At the end of the song, Brie stuck out her tongue at Dave. Later, she told me she does this because she loves him and misses him. What more is there to say?!
"No, I don't want my picture taken. I don't want to go on stage."
Dancer's do
Waiting to go on stage
