The White Smoothie

Dave says it's a good nickname for a white basketball player. It's actually the name Brie gave to Dave's bandaged finger. I had to record this here or risk losing this memory as the years go by. :)

A couple of weeks ago, Dave had sliced his finger with a hand saw (I guess you could say he took the name of the tool he was using a little too literally!) while cutting molding for one of our rentals. "It's only a flesh wound" he thinks, carrying on with some painting since finishing the molding was now out of the question.

Me? I was a little more concerned. Of course, starting out a phone conversation with "Don't be surprised if I need to go to the hospital when I get home," doesn't exactly inspire confidence that everything is okay. Turns out Dave needed six stitches and a tetanus shot and came home with an impressively bandaged finger (hence, the nickname).

Dave weathered it well and even took it upon himself to take the stitches out at home (despite my threats to "report him to the authorities").

Last week, I heard Reese pretending that he or his bear (I couldn't tell which) had cut a finger while at Morrison (the rental). It's funny what provides fodder for a child's imagination.

Thankfully, Jesus continues to be the faithful healer and a fading scar is all we'll have left as a reminder!
