Where do they get these ideas?!

The kids never fail to surprise us with what they come up with sometimes. Here's the latest and greatest...

Last week, Brianna slept over at Grandpa and Nan 's which always is a treat for her. I guess the time was too short because she wasn't ready to come home the next morning. When she came home, she told me, "I don't want you to be expecting me" (Mom told her she had to go home because "Mommy is expecting you"). And she had a long explanation of why she could stay at Grandpa and Nan's and thought that we could easily replace her.

Her solution to the dilemma of us being without a girl? "Just go across the street and get one of the Martin girls since there is three of them." I have yet to share this with our neighbor, but I imagine she will get a good laugh.

Dave and I also have implemented a "three strike rule" to try and have Brianna better understand and anticipate the consquences of misbehavior. Apparantly, she has been disappointed to discover that Dave and I are not the only adults to hand out strikes if merited (as Nan and Amy have had to use them) because she asked me in quite a perterbed voice, "Why does everyone know about strikes?"

Reesie comes up with his own gems and has become quite the planner in his own right. One evening he explained a plan to Dave and I which seemed to make perfect sense to him. He told us he wanted Dave and him to go to the ice cream place and that I could stay home with Brianna and Luke and vacuum and go in the basement to play. I believe he honestly thought vacuuming and the basement would be a fun alternative for the three of us as he does enjoy those activities. And bless his sweet heart, when I asked if we could come to the ice cream place to he said "yes."

As I write this, Brianna is busy dressing Reese in his winter gear and having him ride the horse to some great adventure (I haven't picked up on where yet). I can only imagine what she will come up with once she starts school!
